Experiential Learning for Readiness (STEEL-R)

  Cloud Prototype (Site Under Construction)

STEEL-R Cloud addresses the challenge of gathering and analyzing longitudinal training and performance data by establishing a common data interoperability layer that collects evidence through a competency-based experiential learning model. It uses multiple open-source technologies to support the Total Learning Architecture and deliver AI-driven training experiences that can dynamically adapt training experiences to meet units’ needs.

Software Suites Available in STEEL-R Cloud

Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring (GIFT)

Adaptive Instructional System, produces evidence of training experiences in the form of xAPI.

Experience Design Tool (XDT)

Focused on developing the experiences that enable data to be collected and specify Soldiers will conduct CBEL.

Competency and Skills System (CaSS)

Gathers evidence, authors and stores competency frameworks, and generates assertions of competency based on the gathered evidence.

CaSS Dashboard

Offers several visualizations, categories, and support tools for use with the Competency and Skills System.

Learner Record Store / eXperience Index
(LRS and XI)

The STEELR Cloud database responsible for allowing real-time access to training data for assessments and visualizations for that data.

Synthetic Training Environment / External Applications

External Training Applications such as VBS3/4, Unity scenarios,RIDE, and SE_Sandbox provide simulated experiences to draw knowledge fom.
